New Risco Key Concerns
Many members have contacted us about questions and concerns regarding the change made by RISCO October 1, 2007.
In response, RISCO sent us a Q & A sheet.
Why did we switch to this key system? Risco STOPPED manufacturing our old key and it became obsolete. The options were: 1. Upgrading the key system or 2. Switching the key and key boxes to a whole new system. The second option would have required bringing in all the old keys and current lockboxes for a trade. We received feedback from many REALTORS®, Brokers, and the Board of Directors that the best option of the two, was to upgrade our key; thinking that would be the least invasive.
The battery life is poor. We are demanding that GE/Risco resolve this problem. In the meantime, if your power is draining too quickly, you can recharge it with most mini USB cell phone chargers. Car charges are now for sale at the Board Store in SLC. You can check the life of your battery by: 1. Turn on your key 2. Enter PIN 3. Press 3-1-1-3. This will show you the BATT STATUS with bars on your screen. The bars indicate your battery life.
The "you have a showing" message is not coming through. It should be one of two things: 1. The email listed on Risco is incorrect or 2. The box for receiving emails is not checked on the Risco site. You may check this by going to: www.riscolockbox.com >maintenance>my info> and then you can modify your information. If either of these options does not resolve the issue, please contact Risco.
Temporary update codes. These are available in two ways. 1. Calling Risco at 913-722-3212 or 2. Logging on to www.riscolockbox.com. You will need: our board ID number, 8320, your PIN, and serial# on the back of your key. These off line update codes are limited to three in a row. After you have received them 3 times in a row, you will need to update you key with a computer, using the USB cable, before you can get another off line update code. Once you have done this, your temporary update codes will again be available.
