Update, Tamper and Shackle Codes

  • How do I Update my ReaderKEY2?
Once the program is downloaded from www.riscolockbox.com, plug in the bigger end of your USB cord to your computer, then go in the smaller end to your key.  A gray box with the RISCO logo in it, will pop up on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.  As it updates your key, the box will explain what is happening.  Example: KEY DETECTED.  ACCESSING SERVER.  UPDATING KEY.  During this process, your key will be beeping.  Be sure that you have the Internet is up and working on the computer you use to do this.  IF YOUR INTERNET IS DOWN, IT WILL NOT WORK.  This also applies to what computer you download the program to.  You may download the program on multiple computers if necessary.
  • Can I call RISCO to get an update code?
Yes.  These are called offline updates.  They only last until midnight of the day you get them, regardless of what time you call.  You have a limited number of times you may receive these before you will need to use your computer to update your key.  After doing it 3 times in a row you'll need to do it from your computer.  Once you use the computer to update your ReaderKEY2, the count is cleared and you will be allowed 3 more offline updates.
  • What do I do when my ReaderKEY2 shows Tamper Lockup?
Go to www.riscolockbox.com or call 913-722-3212.  Click on Tamper Reset Codes. When your ReaderKey shows Enter Reset Code, enter this code. This is only good for the day that you get it.  To get your key back on schedule, update it again before you need to use it so you don't have a problem when you get to a showing.
  • What do I do when my ReaderKEY2 shows Clock Stopped/Lock up?
If Clock Stopped is the message on your key, you should be able to plug in your key, as if you were updating it.  This should solve the problem.  This message is caused by the battery dying.  Turn on your key to see if the exp. date has changed.
  • What if an error invalid login message comes up?
You should be able to update it again, turn on your key, and the exp. date should have advanced.  If the error message remains, and your key still won't update, contact Risco.
  • What if my screen shows a Device Lock up message?
In this case, you will need to bring in your key to our office so that we can reprogram your key for you.
    • Lock out? If Lock Out is the message, you've been locked out from 11pm until 7am, which is the Lock Out time period. This is automatic.
  • What do I do when my ReaderKEY2 shows Unauthorized Request when I try to open a shackle on one of my RediSAFES?
This means that you have not programmed your shackle code into your ReaderKEY2. Your shackle code may be obtained by going to the website or calling 913-722-3212. Click on Maintenance. Click on My Info. It is also shown on all inventory reports that you have gotten from the Association.
    • Can I use my key to do this?
Yes. Turn on your ReaderKey. Enter your pin. Press 3 to go to the menu. Press 2 to scroll through the options, until it shows “enter shackle code”. Press 3 to select the option you want. Enter your shackle code.  Your shackle code will display on your key. You should now be ready to unlock your shackles.
